What is an Athletic Trainer?

Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled healthcare professionals who render service or treatment, including primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, or chronic injuries and medical conditions.

Location:

The Athletic Training Room (ATR) is located at the south end of the Panther Gymnasium, directly across from the basketball courts.

Sports Physicals:

Physicals must be completed on Home Campus (see information handout). All forms are filled out electronically except the physical form a physician should complete. This form must be uploaded with a clear picture of the doctor's signature and date under the PPE Physical Exam form on the Home Campus site. All sections must be completed in Home Campus to be eligible to participate in sports.

**Physicals that are incomplete or do not meet the above standards will not be accepted until completed.**

**The most up-to-date sports physical form has been uploaded to every form section on the school website. After uploading it to DragonFly, you may turn it into the athletic trainer. If you are unable to turn it into the athletic trainer, have the office attendant leave it in her mailbox or turn it into your coach.

Insurance:

Under state law, school districts must ensure that all members of school athletic teams have accidental injury insurance that covers medical and hospital expenses. This insurance requirement can be met by the school district offering insurance or other health benefits that cover medical and hospital expenses. Some pupils may qualify to enroll in no-cost or low-cost local, state, or federally-sponsored health insurance programs. Information about these programs may be obtained by calling the programs below:
